Riders and fares

On 1 June 2025 PMPML raised its fares for the first time in a decade: the minimum fare doubled from ₹5 to ₹10, a daily pass went from ₹40 to ₹70 and a monthly pass from ₹900 to ₹1,500. The monthly depot reports show what happened next.

Riders held steady

In the reported months of 2025 before the rise, PMPML carried riders a day. In the reported months after it, . The months between June and October 2025 are missing, so a dip and recovery inside them cannot be ruled out.

What did change is how people pay. Ticket buyers were of riders in and in . The shift began two years before the fare rise.

"Pass" counts every rider who did not buy a ticket on board: daily, monthly and student passes, contracts and app bookings.

Each rider now pays half as much again

PMPML earned ₹ per rider in early 2025 and ₹ after the rise: more, from about the same number of riders.

Earnings here are all traffic earnings for the month, divided by its days and its riders a day.

Monthly passes kept their buyers; daily passes lost some

After the rise, money from monthly passes grew , close to the 67% price rise, so about as many people bought one. Money from daily passes grew against a 75% price rise, so fewer people bought one.

The reports leave daily-pass earnings empty for several months of 2023; those are gaps, not zero sales.
